The Royal Castle of Durtal
After Henri II, Charles IX, Catherine de Médicis and Louis XIII, come and discover the imposing Château de Durtal, a historic monument open to visitors: its former kitchens, its fresco gallery, its covered walkway, its “engoulents” room, its 15th-century framework and one of the largest fireplaces in France!

Both a fortress and a château d’apparat, Durtal is a perfect architectural example of the monumental Loire Valley buildings of the 15th and 16th centuries. Built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the town and the river Loir, the huge 5,000 m2 building and its 90 rooms can only be discovered on guided tours.

The DURTAL Interpretation Trail – 1h walk
A town of water, a town of stones, a town of discovery, Durtal is endowed with a wealth of historical and natural treasures that embellish it throughout the seasons. Discover the charm of Durtal on this trail, with its magnificent château on the banks of the Loir, its old town, the old St-Léonard district and the Val d’Argance…
A 4 km loop in the heart of the commune’s remarkable heritage. One by one, the historical and cultural treasures of the region are revealed through a series of entertaining stages. No imposed rhythm or meaning, just a thirst for discovery as a compass. Walkers then become part of the tour.

The Chambiers forest
Enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest lanes, with two walks to choose from: an educational trail to discover the flora and fauna, and a walking trail shaded by the leaves of hundred-year-old beech, hornbeam and oak trees.
Flat, family-friendly hiking trail, mainly on forest paths (for hikers and bikers). Suitable for occasional walkers.

Le Loir celebrates
Le Loir en fête is an event that takes place shortly after July 14th, in honor of the famous event of the early 20th century. This day is devoted to discovering activities on the theme of the Loir (exhibition, show…) To conclude this event in beauty, the day ends with a superb fireworks display (pyrotechnic show) and a magnificent popular ball.
Celebrating the terraces
In July and August, DURTAL brings the Place des Terrasses (next to the château) to life with festivities and music. Attend concerts and discover different horizons
International flea market
Every year in September, DURTAL’s town center is transformed into a veritable museum of antiques (rare items and/or objects from yesteryear) and becomes a paradise for bargain hunters and collectors.

- Terre sur Argance : Workshop – Gallery in the heart of Durtal. A ceramist for over 40 years, clay is the link that connects Catherine Méra to the world and to herself.
- Montgolfier: Workshop specializing in small series production of contemporary tableware and decorative objects
- Boule de Fort : Typical Anjou game. Just push open the door of “Petit Tivoli” to discover this game.
- O’Miel: Set up in 2007, Ludivine and Julien have 600 hives, mainly for honey production. (Honey on sale at the campsite reception)
- Le Livec: Passionate about new tastes, Le Livec offers aperitifs created from unique blends of wine and quality syrups. Le Livec also offers a complete range of sausages in a variety of flavours, made in the Pays de Loire region.

- Agri’Kids Educational Farm: The educational farm is open all year round for self-guided tours or guided tours by prior arrangement.
- Domaine Viticole de la Tuffière Domaine de la Tuffière : production of Anjou appellation wines. Visitors welcome all year round: self-guided tours of the troglodyte cellars, followed by free wine tasting. From May to September, foreign customers can enjoy a guided tour with tasting every Thursday at 4pm, in their language (English and Dutch) with a guide (free).
- Village Troglodytique de Cornillé les Caves: Its caves, open to visitors (by appointment), are a delight for troglodyte site enthusiasts. They are made up of over 20 km of galleries dug between the 16th and 19th centuries to extract the tufa stone needed to build the surrounding area.
- Bateau Promenade “La Gogane”: Come aboard and be amazed! Sail between Morannes and Cheffes on the Sarthe river in Maine et Loire. 1h30 cruises.
